Head of Legal
You’ll own the legal and regulatory side of a studio being built from zero - licensing strategy, aggregator and operator contracts, certification, IP and data. Compliance and player protection are not overhead here; they are part of the product, and you are the person who keeps that true.
Responsibilities
- Build the licensing roadmap: which supplier licences we pursue, in what order, for which markets - and run the applications end to end
- Own the contract stack - aggregator distribution agreements, operator terms, NDAs, supplier and outsourcing contracts, employment paperwork
- Run certification and testing-house relationships, and make sure our math, RTP and game rules stand up to audit in every market we enter
- Set the studio’s responsible gambling and 18+ standards, and keep marketing, community and product inside them
- Own GDPR and data protection, from player data reaching us through partners to internal handling
- Protect the IP: trademarks, game and brand assets, and what we can and cannot show in public
- Advise the founder directly on structure, risk and market entry - plainly, and early enough to matter
Must-haves
- Qualified lawyer with 5+ years in iGaming - in-house at a supplier, operator, aggregator, or at a firm with a real gambling practice
- Hands-on experience with supplier or B2B licence applications and regulator correspondence
- Fluent written and spoken English; comfortable negotiating contracts in it
- Practical command of at least one major regulated framework and a working map of the rest
- Judgement over box-ticking - you can say what the actual risk is and what to do about it
Nice-to-haves
- Experience taking a new supplier through certification with a testing house
- Understanding of game math and RTP well enough to read a certification report
- Responsible gambling or player-protection policy work
